Marketing Content Strategist & Writer

Position Summary:
Senior strategic marketer responsible for developing and owning the content strategy for multiple clients across various industries (mostly B to B but some B to C). This includes creating and maintaining the content calendar by client and writing or reviewing all written content for the client across multiple mediums, including, but not limited to web, case studies, blogs, testimonials, sales brochures and email marketing content.
The person needs to have a proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment on an integrated virtual marketing team; be a quick learner with solid marketing intuition; be able to learn quickly through thorough review of strategic documents; be process oriented and highly organized.
This role is ideal for a marketing contractor who thinks strategically and excels at marketing strategy and is a team player.
This role is responsible for the following:
- Content development strategy by client, revising strategy as needed given fluidity of market situations.
- Develop and maintain a phased content strategy and calendar through efficient client meetings to present and confirm priorities across all mediums (e.g., case studies, client testimonials, direct marketing including email, web content, blogs)
- Write and/or review blogs with best practices for driving views to build awareness and credibility.
- Develop direct marketing strategy and write email marketing plans to be strategic, incorporating best practices that generate measurable results (A/B testing, best practices with subject lines and pre-headers)
- Write web content to expand existing clients’ websites incorporating SEO terms
- Expertise to write all website content for new website development initiatives
- Write and or review client case studies
- Write sales materials including, but not limited to, brochures and electronic PDFs (e.g., company overviews or sector overviews)
- Write ad copy, as needed
This role reports directly to the Principal of For Marketing Matters and is an integral part of the virtual marketing team.
This role is part of a high functioning, integrated marketing team and is not a good fit for an independent contractor who seeks to be an individual contributor. As a member of this virtual team, it is important and expected to communicate effectively with other team members, consistently informing others of work for them to leverage and amplify across other various marketing elements.
You will be expected to deliver high quality work on time and within budget, to drive results. In this role, you have the opportunity to learn and grow as a marketer and work on a variety of clients spanning many industries.
This role is ideal for an individual who loves the power of words, loves to write and is motivated by tracking tangible results.
Background/Experience Required:
- Proven ability to work in a professional, fast-paced, virtual environment
- Strong client facing skills to persuade, guide and counsel clients on best practices and recommended approaches. This role is client facing and requires strong consultative and communication skills.
- Proven ability to lead as a senior marketer.
- Self-motivated and highly motivated, driven, highly organized; can-do attitude
- Results-oriented marketer; metric-driven
- Efficient in work style; strong time management; proven ability to work across many clients adeptly and effortlessly while working within defined available hours to do high quality work.
- Innate ability to prioritize and plan.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience as marketing content writer for multiple clients (min. of 5 or more)
- Technically adept in Microsoft Word, Excel, use of project management tools
